1936 Packard One Twenty Convertible Sedan

In 1932, Packard attempted to produce a smaller, lower-priced companion car called the 900 Light Eight. It proved to be a disappointment, but the ongoing Great Depression deepened the need for a sensibly priced automobile that could appeal to a wider audience. Thus, the One Twenty came about, named after its wheelbase. The Packard 120 made its introduction in January 1935.

The Packard 900 Light Eight shared its engine with the full-size Standard Eight. The One Twenty, however, had a new straight eight that was four-fifths the displacement of the larger Eight but made 85% of its power. Even though it was Packard's entry-level vehicle, the One Twenty brought with it pioneering new features not yet seen on senior Packards. These features included an independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes.

Packard One Twenty proved popular, with nearly 25,000 examples sold in its first year, more than three times the volume of all other Packards combined.

This particular example is a Convertible Sedan. It has been fully restored by the current owner.
