1947 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible

Continuing into 1947, demand outpaced supply. Working at a frantic pace, Ford changed very little for the 1947 model year, seeing little need to waste money and time in changing styles not needed to induce sales. Changes that did occur included the parking lamps, which went from rectangular to circular and were relocated below the headlamps. The grille was revised and detailed changes were made to the headlight bezels.

The Convertible Coupe, also known as the Club Convertible, was Model 51A-76, and was part of the top-of-the-line Super Deluxe series. It came with a flathead V8 engine. The Super Deluxe line included two sun visors, armrests on all doors, passenger assist straps, chrome horn ring, and horizontal chrome trim on the body.

The convertible had a combination of artificial leather with Bedford cord inserts or all-artificial leather for its interior. This was a first for the convertible, with past models using genuine leather seating.

This particular Club Convertible is finished in Maize Yellow with a red-accented black canvas roof and red interior. In 1977, the car entered the care of Don Gibson and it has remained with him ever since. It was restored by him and has been driven just over 1,050 miles since the work was completed. In 1986, the car won a Dearborn Award from the Early Ford V-8 Club of America.
