1925 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost All Weather Tourer

In December of 1919, Rolls Royce of America purchased a factory in Springfield, Massachusetts. From 1921 to 1926, roughly 1,700 Silver Ghosts chassis were produced at Springfield. The bodies were supplied by notable coachbuilders such as Smith-Springfield, New Haven Carriage Company, Merrimac, Biddle and Smart, Derham, Fleetwood, LeBaron & Locke.

This chassis, S283PK, was completed in 1925. It was sent to Locke & Co. in New York, to have a convertible sedan body installed. It appeared at the 1925 New York Auto Salon at the Grand Central Palace. Afterward, it was delivered to H. S Ogilvie, of Hartford, Connecticut. Three owners later, the car was sold to Richard Scarsella of Cold Springs Harbor, New York. He commissioned a restoration in 1973. In 1994, the car was sold to the Peitz Collection in Portugal where it remained for 20 years. In 2014 it was sold at an auction in California with other cars from that collection.
