1915 Stanley Model 820 Mountain Wagon

The Model 820 Stanley Mountain Wagon is a legendary hill climbing vehicle originally designed to tackle the task of delivering guests to F. O. Stanley's famous hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Mountain Wagons quickly gained favor with resorts all over the country for their rugged performance, great capacity, and silent operation.

Number 15038 has a long history of notable owners. It was originally discovered by early Canadian collector Sheriff Jesse Z. Feese in 1940. Opera singer James Melton purchased it in 1944. He was an avid collector with well over 100 cars. Melton sold the Stanley to T. C. Marshall, the dean of all steam car collectors, in 1952 for his Delaware steam car museum. Known for saving many antique collector cars long before it was a popular thing to do, he displayed his cars in the Melton Museum in Connecticut. By the 1960s, the car resided in Harry Resnick's Auto Museum in Ellenville, NY. Robert Collings purchased number 15038 for the Collings Foundation Museum in 1985. Noted collector Charles Lemaitre purchased the car in 2011. The Off Brothers Collection purchased the Mountain Wagon in 2014.

Number 15038 is designated a 'Car Of Record' by the Stanley Register.
