The Alfa Romeo 2000 was introduced in 1958 and was powered by a 1975cc engine. The Spider version was designed and built by Touring while the 2000 Sprint Coupe was done by Bertone, the latter introduced in 1960. The 2000 Sedan featured a column-mounted shifter for its five-speed transmission, while the Spider and Sprint retained the floor-mounted gear shift.
The four-cylinder engine had duplex-chain driven twin overhead camshafts, a pair of side-draft Solex carburetors, and hemispherical combustion chambers.
This particular example was one of the last 2000's built with a minor change of the two functional hood scoops. Additionally, side vent windows were not added to the interim model change. These last cars were built in 1961 but were titled as 1962 models when sold.
