1961 Citroen DS19 Cabriolet dUsine

After its launch at the Paris Auto Show in 1955, the revolutionary Citroen DS19 continued to be built in its original guise until 1965. The original four-door saloon design was the work of Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flamini Bertoni and French aeronautical engineer Andre Lefebvre. A new convertible model was launched in 1960 called the 'Cabriolet de Serie', or more commonly known as 'Cabriolet d'Usine' and it was built in a small series by the French carrossier Henri Chapron for the Citroen dealer network. The convertible was expensive and only 1,365 were sold. They used exactly the same engine and innovative chassis arrangement as the saloon, but were built on a special frame with reinforced side-members and a stronger rear suspension.
