1994 BMW 8 Series Coupe

The E31 850CSi used the same engine as the 850i - a large 2 door luxury coupe - but it was tuned so significantly that BMW had to assign it a new engine code: BMW S70B56. The modifications included Bosch Motronic 1.7 fuel injection, a capacity increase to 5576cc with 375 horsepower at 5300 RPM and 406 lb-ft of torque at 4000 RPM. On the V12 engine's top cover is the 'M' plus 3-stripe insignia. To the chassis, BMW added stiffer springs and dampers that reduced the car's ride height. The 6-speed manual gearbox was the only transmission. The 4-wheel steering of the European cars did not come to the United States. Instead the cars received 'BMW Motorsport' on the door handles.
