1992 Porsche 911 Carrera Navigation
In 1992 the Carrera RS (Type 964) was a stripped-down version of the standard Carrera, shedding 130kg. Zero to 62 mph took only 5.3 seconds. The weight reduction was achieved with an aluminum hood, thinner-gauge side and un-heated rear window glass and the omission of rust preventative undercoating, sound insulating floor mats, electric motors in the door windows and mirrors, the rear seats altogether, and all the airbags. The 3.6-liter motor was 're-chipped' for 260 horsepower, the bodyshell hand welded over some spot welds, and both brake and suspension upgrades were made. There were also Magnesium 17-inch Cup wheels and pull straps.
