Developed in the mid-1960s, the Mercedes-Benz introduced the 300 SEL in 1968. It wore a design by Paul Bracq and powered by a large V-8 engine borrowed from the Pullman limousine, helping it become known as the world's fastest four-door car. Production of the 300SEL would be brief, lasting just four years, and ending in 1972. During its production lifespan, just over 6,500 examples were built.
This particular example is finished in Light Ivory with a tan leather interior. It has been well maintained and was completely repainted and fitted with a new interior with all wood refinished. It has a large, double bar grille that is flanked by quad headlamps. On either side of the vehicle is a lateral trim spear that traverses the entire length of the car. In the back is the same double bar bumper treatment with a Mercedes-Benz start located on the center of the trunk. It has a wheelbase size of 112.2 inches and rides on correct factory rims with blackwall tires. Power is from a 6.3-liter V8 engine fitted with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection offering 200 horsepower and mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It has a top speed of 125 miles per hour.By Daniel Vaughan | Sep 2018
