1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E Sedan

The Mercedes-Benz 500E sports saloon was first shown in 1990 at the Paris Salon. It had been developed with assistance from Porsche and was hand built at Porsche's Zuffenhausen factory. Each 500E was transported back and forth between the Mercedes plant and Porsche's Rossle-Bau factory in Zuffenhausen. It took a full eighteen days to complete. The 500E was luxurious, and weighed less than the 500 SL sports car. Power was from a 5.0-liter 32-valve V8 engine offering 326 horsepower. Zero-to-sixty took just 6.1 seconds and top speed was achieved at around 260 km/h.

This particular example was purchased by the Mead family and has remained in their collection ever since. The Meads flew to Stuttgart to take delivery of the sedan. After the car arrived in the states, it made its way to New Mexico where it was first registered on August 25 of 1993. It spent time in Florida for a short period, before returning to New Mexico where is has been kept for the majority of its life. Currently it has 14,974 miles on its odometer.

The 4,973cc dual overhead cam V8 engine is fitted with electronic port fuel injection and offers 315 horsepower. There is a four-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel disc brakes.
