The Fiat Dino Coupe was introduced in 1967 at the Geneva Auto Show. In similar fashion to its Spider stablemate - the Ferrari Dino - it was Enzo's Ferrari attempt at homologating a V-6 engine for Formula 2 competition. For 1967, Formula 2 required six-cylinder engines built in more than 500 examples per year. The Ferrari marque designed the V-6 engines and Fiat finished the cars at their Torino factory. The coachwork for the Spider and Coupe were provided by Pininfarina and Bertone.
The V-6 engine grew in size to 2,418cc in 1969. Additionally, an independent suspension system was fitted in the back, and construction moved to Maranello.
This particular example was assembled in Ferrari's facility in mid-1971, and registered on November 18th to Licia Ceresoli who lived in the northern Italian province of Cremona. Four decades later, Francesco Torresan registered the Dino in Montebelluna. It was imported to the United States by a Florida owner in 2014. A year later it was sold to Hervé Labesse, who sold it to the current owner in 2015.
The car is finished in Argento Metallizzato and retains its original dark blue leather interior and red cars. It has its tools, jacks, and Italian registration paperwork. The engine is a 2,418cc dual overhead cam V-6 engine fitted with three Weber carburetors and produces 180 horsepower. There is a five-speed ZF manual gearbox and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2018
