1994 McLaren F1 Navigation
This McLaren F1 was the 14th of a total of 65 road cars produced (107 examples in total). The car was sparingly used before it was sent to the United States in 2002. In 2006, the car was offered for sale at RM Auctions Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction where it was sold for the sum of $1,705,000.
This McLaren F1 is fitted with a high-downforce kit, which includes a big wing in the back and more prominent splitter. The high-downforce kit was a factory option on the late-production F1, but this kit (the car being built in 1994), likely was added later by the factory.
In 2018, the car was again consigned to RM Sothebys, this time to their Private Sales department. In 2017, Bonhams sold an F1 for $15.6 million; the RM Private Sales Department was seeking $22 million for chassis number 14. Adding this $14's appeal is its ability to be registered in the United States, which is something not all F1s can claim.By Daniel Vaughan | Jan 2019
