1918 Hudson Super Six Series M Navigation
Hudson's Super Six models were introduced in January 1916. They quickly earned a reputation for their smooth power delivery and durability. They came equipped with the first Hudson-built engine. It displaced 289 cubic inches and delivered 76 horsepower at 2,450 engine revolutions. The engine had an industry-first patented, balanced crankshaft, plus large-diameter valves, efficient ports, and high 5:1 compression.
The Super Six was designated the Series H for its inaugural 1916 model year. Buyers responded by giving Hudson a 100 percent sales increase over 1915, with 25,772 cars shipped in all.
This Hudson Super Six is titled as a 1916 model but is actually a 1918 Series M car. Passenger amenities found on this Limousine include a roll-down division window, privacy blinds through the rear passenger compartment, twin passenger grab bars, roll-down windows, vanity compartments, dome lighting, and a floor-mounted heater outlet.
This car was owned for many years by Bobby Barlow. It was later purchased from his estate by Jimmy Alsbrook of Florence, South Carolina. The next caretaker was Robert Kavanagh of Montreal, Quebec. It was brought to Hershey, Pennsylvania, in October 2006, where it was acquired for the Hostetler Collection.By Daniel Vaughan | Jan 2019
