1948 Chevrolet Fleetline Aero Sedan

The fastback coupe design was popularized during the 1940s and continued to gain momentum when automobile production resumed after World War II. The Fleetline was re-introduced in 1946 as a sub-series of the Fleetmaster full-size line with body styles that included the two-door fastback Aerosedan and a four-door sedan Sportmaster. Focused on meeting consumer demand, very few changes were implemented by 1948, most notably a center support pillar in the grille. This was to be the highest production year of Fleetline cars, with approximately 276,078 examples built. The Aerodsedan accounted for 27% of Chevrolet's total U.S. automobile production with 211,861 units built.

This is a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline Aero Sedan equipped with the optional dealer-installed wood-grained 'Country Club' trim package and produced by Engineered Enterprises of Detroit. Sold only through factory-authorized dealers, this accessory added $149.50 to the vehicle's base price. It was above the budget of most Chevrolet buyers of the day.

The 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline rested on a 116-inch wheelbase platform, and its 216 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine delivered 83 horsepower through a three-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. Four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes provided the stopping power. The front suspension used an independent coil spring setup while the live rear axle uses semi-elliptic leaf springs.
