1955 Porsche 356 Coupe

For the 1955 model year, Max Hoffman, the principle importer of Porsches into the United States at the time, convinced Porsche to use a name instead of a number to distinguish their models. So, in the spirit of American marketing, Porsche began putting a 'Continental' script on the fenders of 1955 model year coupes and cabriolets. As it turned out Ford was reviving the 'Continental' name with the Lincoln program. Thus, Porsche stopped using the script at the end of the 1955 model year. This is the 21st Continental built. It is a numbers matching car and was used as a special ordered demonstrator car by Max Hoffman. Shown here in its original color of Azure Blue and features the rare options of bench seat with corduroy inserts, Telefunken Super 86 AM/FM radio, VDO eight-day clock, Bosch fog lights and factory luggage set.
