The car was special ordered by George Stone and Bruce Jennings who co-drove with Stone. It came with the M-491 Race package, which included the 2.5 liter mechanically injected engine, wider wheels, enlarged fender flares, a rear roll bar and full race suspension and brakes. The car is recognized by Porsche as the last of the 21 911STs built. It's first race was in November 1972 at the IMSA finale at Daytona where it finished eighth overall. The second and third races were the Daytona 24 Hour where it was fourth overall. Then on to the 12 hours of Sebring where it finished eighth overall.

In 1975, the car was taken over by George Drolsom of Jacksonville. He went on to win the GTU title and Porsche Cup for the year. The car has undergone a restoration back to its as delivered configuration in 1972. It is a very important piece of Porsche's history from the Golden Age of IMSA.
