1958 Chevrolet Apache Truck

The new 'Task Force Series' of light-duty GM pickup trucks was launched on March 25th, 1955. They were offered through 1959, with each model year receiving careful improvements. The stylish Task Force Series brought with it modern 12-volt electrical systems and Chevrolet's first V-8 truck engines, initially displacing 265 cubic inches and growing to 283 CID by 1957. The smooth lines and gentle curves were accented by discreetly hidden running boards located beneath the cab doors. In the front was a new 'wrap-around' windshield which had been inspired by GM Motorama show cars. The rear wraparound window was also fitted to Deluxe models. Power steering and power brakes were now available for the first time.

In 1955, Chevrolet introduced the limited-production Cameo Carrier. They had fiberglass rear fenders and additional bright trim. In 1958, the Cameo Apache pickup was given a more assertive style with a larger grille and new quad headlights.

This Chevrolet Apache Cameo Pickup is powered by a 283 cubic-inch small block V8 engine fitted with a 2-barrel carburetor and mated to a column-shifted 3-speed transmission. It is finished in two-tone teal and black exterior. Inside, there is grey vinyl and a cloth interior. It has a big back window, sun visor, finished bed with polished strips, heat & defrost, chrome bumpers, and full-size wheel covers.
