The heart of this rare Porsche is its race-bred 4-cam roller bearing engine. This is the same power-plant that propelled the Giant Killer Type 550 Spyder racing cars to victory over competitors with engines four or five times its size.

This Porsche was designated 1500 GS-GT (Grand Sport - Grand Touring) and named Carrera in honor of the Mexican Carrera Panamaracana where Porsche Spyders had done so well.
