1996 Porsche 911 Coupe

Porsche modified the 3.6-liter type M64 engine found in the 993 Carrera, increasing its displacement to 3.8 liters while reducing the weight of engine internals. In this guise, it was known as the type M64/20. It was given a state-of-the-art technology called VarioRam, a variable-length intake system that improved low- to mid-range torque. This technology would later find its way into the normally aspirated model range. The 3.8-liter engine produced nearly 300 horsepower and was used for the 993 Cup and RSR models that raced in a variety of international GT racing series. In order for these cars to qualify for racing, Porsche was required to build road-going versions to satisfy homologation requirements. Thus, the Carrera 3.8 RS was born, available with either lightweight racing buckets or sport seats. Buyers seeking even greater performance could purchase the Clubsport package, which was basically a street-legal production car.

This particular example is a Carrera RS that was completed on June 27th of 1995. It is finished in Riviera Blue and was specified for German delivery. It has manual windows, a three-spoke motorsport steering wheel, air-conditioning, deluxe Blaupunkt radio, and specially ordered power-adjustable, heated sport seats. The interior features additional Exclusive Department custom touches, with the seatbacks, door pulls, and seat belts finished in Riviera Blue.

This car was originally sold through Porsche Zentrum Düsseldorf to its first owner and registered under the company name, Oehmichen & Bürgers Industrieplanung GmbH. It was sold in 2007 to George Athanasopoulos of London. It later entered the care of another English owner, before being sold to a French Porsche collector. The current American caretaker acquired the car and had it imported into the United States under the NHTSA's Show or Display exemption.

This car is in original condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. It currently displays less than 12,900 km on the odometer. There is a 296 horsepower engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and four-wheel ventilated cross-drilled disc brakes.
