1960 Pontiac Bonneville Hardtop

The year 1960 marked Pontiac's second year of 'Wide-Track' design. Pushing the wheels further over in the fenders and creating what was considered to be the best cornering full-sized cars available. The Bonneville was the flagship and it was the quintessential American car. The 'Wide Track' Pontiac was America's best-selling medium-priced car in 1960 and came standard with a 303 horsepower 389 cubic-inch V8 engine. The Optional Tri-Power setup pushed that up to 348 horsepower. The distinctive 'shark-nose' of the 1960 Pontiac was a one-year-only design as the next year the traditional split grille returned.

This 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe was found, still with its original owner, in a Pennsylvania barn. The original owner had traveled only 43,000 with the car and she did it barefoot to preserve the carpets. While the car was a bit 'barn worn', requiring restoration, the original interior was perfect. A comprehensive restoration followed. New old stock GM parts were used throughout. It was completed in 1998.

The car was restored by Lloyd and Jeff Brekke. AACA honored this car with the 1998 Bomgardner Award for the 'Most Outstanding Post-War Restoration.'

1960 was Pontiac's second year of wide-track design and brought domination to NASCAR and NHRA Top Stock Eliminator and Pike's Peak.
