Sedan
This car's story began in Laguna Beach, California, in early 1961 when Everett Braley and his wife Julia decided to take an extended driving vacation in Europe. At their local Mercedes-Benz dealer, they ordered a 190b sedan in Rio Red with a radio and rooftop luggage rack that would be useful on their tour. They took delivery at the Mercedes-Benz factory near Stuttgart and then drove the car for the three months required, so that it could be imported into the United States without paying new car-duties. After 54 years and 275,000 miles, the Ponton was completely disassembled and stripped. During the next three years, the car was restored.
