After returning from World War II, Fred Schuler started an auto repair business in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It grew into a thriving business - Automobile City.
Fred wanted to add a new car franchise and had approached Mercedes-Benz. They worked to spruce up the shop and Mercedes toured the building. Mercedes decided to choose another location. Fred had two other franchise options - MG or Datsun. He liked the sound of the name 'Datsun' better so in 1967 it became Automobile City Datsun. Having three sons they decided to become involved in SCCA racing to promote the new dealership. They campaigned 3 orange and black Datsun cars as Team Effort Racing.
The oldest brother Fred raced a new 240Z, David a Datsun 2000, and little brother Bob raced this 1600. Running many hill climbs in the mountains of Pennsylvania, the younger brother's raced more often.
They moved on to faster cars and the 1600 took a long nap only to be purchased and raced again by JH Bahn in Maryland. JH improved the car and had a wonderful time racing in 'Vintage' from 1999 - 2006. It then fell asleep of another decade before coming to Texas where it now resides.
