Pierce-Arrow introduced their unique headlamp design in 1913 and it quickly became their trademark.
This model was originally purchased by William Coleman for $5,121.04 and it remained in his family for 44 years. It was later sold to a gas station owner who had performed much of the car's maintenance. The car was modified by the Pierce-Arrow factory in 1918 to have a 'one-man top.' This decreased the overall height of the car and made it easier to fit in a garage. The owner also had Westinghouse air springs installed. George Westinghouse had also invented an air brake previously for railroad use. This car has completed two coast-to-coast trans-continental reliability tours. In 1976, it ran from Seattle to Philadelphia. In 1985 it ran from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon.By Daniel Vaughan | Jul 2019
