1955 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Starfire Convertible

This car is one of just 9,149 Starfire convertibles of the almost 600,000 Oldsmobile's built that year. It packs the iconic 324 cubic-inch 200 horsepower 'Rocket' V-8 and such 'cutting-edge' features as power steering, brakes, seats and windows, a seek/scan radio and 'Autotronic Eye' headlamp control. With its long, rakish silhouette, curved panoramic windshield and swept-back rear fenders, it represents Oldsmobile's styling, technology and performance flagship of that year. This car was built at the Kansas City assembly plant in late summer of 1955, then shipped to Pennsylvania, where it spent most of its life. Its current owner acquired it 'worn, old but totally intact' from a private collector, then took on the challenge of restoring it to its former glory. Since a two-year frame-off restoration completed in 1993, it has won multiple awards including A.A.C.A. 'Best of Class' Nationals & Grand Nationals.
