1960 Cadillac Series 6200 Convertible

After reaching a flamboyant peak in 1959, the Cadillac tail fins began their downward descent in 1960. This 1960 Cadillac convertible was acquired by the current owner in 1990. The well-used car was purchased from an Ontario, Canada owner anxious to liquidate his collection prior to a move to Florida. During the introductory drive home, electrical problems necessitated a flatbed ride across the United States border. As other issues surfaced, it was decided to embark on a full tear-down and refurbish journey.

The original base price of the 1960 Series 62 Convertible was $5,455 and 14,000 were sold (versus only 1,285 for the more lavish Biarritz convertible which started at $7,401). Power windows and leather-trimmed seats were standard. The 390 cubic-inch V8 was rated at 325 horsepower. New for 1960 features included horn buttons built into the steering wheel spokes, an automatic parking brakes release, finned rear brake drums, and suspension refinements resulting in a smoother ride.
