The sporty BMW Z8 Roadster was produced from 2000 - 2003 in very limited numbers. The Z8 was developed under the codename 'E52' between 1993 and 1999, through the efforts of a design team led by Chris Bangle. The exterior was designed by Henrik Fisker and the interior by Scott Lempert up until 1995, when the latter left BMW and styling was approved.
The Z8 was originally designed as a styling exercise inspired by the 1956 - 1959 BMW 507. It is said that early prototypes were spotted testing as early as 1996. A concept version was later developed as a preview for the upcoming Z8 and was showcased in October 1997 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
This Z8 is believed to be one of just 331 built in black with the black and creme interior.
