1958 Zundapp Janus Navigation
The Zundapp Janus was built in Germany and named after the Roman god Janus, who was able to look both forward and backward. The reason, of course, is that this car has doors forward and backward.
There were originally 20 of these cars imported to the United States, but only ten were sold. Currently, the whereabouts of the other ten are unknown.
Many mistake this car for the BMW Isetta, which features a similar single front door. Although both cars were offered around the same time, the Isetta was far more successful. It is said that Zundapp needed to sell 15,000 units to break even, but they were only able to sell about 6,900. It is believed that automobile production is the cause of the bankruptcy of Zundapp.
