The special model designed by Hurst Performance known as the SC/Rambler was a mid-year introduction. Planned as the Halo model of the Rogue 2-door sedan, the idea was to build excitement among the youth market and to increase showroom traffic for American Motors dealers.
Stuffing a 315 horsepower, 390 cubic-inch engine under the hood backed by a Hurst shifted Borg-Warner T10 4-speed manual transmission quickly established these lightweight sedans as a force among the popular NHRA F/Stock and J/Super Stock classes.
Purchased new in Pennsylvania, the original owner was in the military. He immediately added headers, a cam kit, cheater slicks and more and hit the local drag strips on a regular basis. After much abuse, the current owner acquired it in 1990. He spent years chasing parts to bring it back to its exact as delivered condition, completing the full restoration in 2019.
