1936 Dodge Series D-2 Convertible Coupe

This car was purchased in Massachusetts to be used at a family's summer home in Connecticut. It would remain with the original family owners until the mid-1960's, when it was sold to a prominent collector in Maine. It is believed to have been restored soon after.

1936 marks the end of production for the rumble seat Dodge Convertible Coupes. With 1935 production being exceptionally low, Dodge would introduce Shirley Temple as their spokesperson to stimulate sales. They would then be called 'The Beauty Winner Line' and sales would increase to 1,525 units. Powered by a 217.8 cubic-inch L-head 6-cylinder engine that produces 87 horsepower, it rides on a 116 inch wheelbase. Introduced in 1934, this engine would power Dodges through 1941. Power is transferred via a three-speed manual transmission.
