1960 Auto-Union 1000 Sp Sedan

Auto Union and DKW were two brands within Auto Union in 1960 - today, we know the brands as the single Audi nameplate within the Volkswagen Group. The 100 Sp, a 2-door coupe, was built from 1958 to 1965 alongside a Roadster, each with a 981cc 3-cylinder 2-stroke engine offering a spritely 55 horsepower and 4-speed manual transmission feeding the front wheels. 5,004 Coupes were built, and 1,640 Roadsters. Today, each is rare. In its day, these 'strokers' were great performers on the track or on a road rally, competitive with early Saabs.

This car was parked in 1993 following a repaint. It was forgotten in an underground parking garage of a senior care facility until very recently. Das Kleine Wunder or 'the little wonder' still rings true.
