1931 Duesenberg Model J Phaeton

First fitted in late 1930 with 4-door sedan-style coachwork by Derham, this short-wheelbase Duesenberg J was re-bodied after a few months with this LeBaron Phaeton coachwork for the 1931 New York Auto Salon. The design is unique and features sculpted doors with concealed hinges and a steeply raked split windshield. The car was first sold to Bob McEldowney of Pennsylvania before going to Duesenberg dealer and collector John Troka in the late 1930s. Ten years later, it was restored by its then-owner Bob Robertson. After the war the car changed hands several times, spending ten years with Jack Passey, and was restored again in 1993. In 1999, it was bought by Otis Chandler, and when the Chandler collection was sold, the current owner was lucky enough to acquire the car for his well-known collection.
