1934 Aston Martin MK II Navigation
The final Aston Martin to feature the previous S-Type model's 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine was the Mark II, introduced in 1934. The Mark II's ladder-frame chassis was also a development of Aston's original S-Type design and, compared to the previous model, it was considerably stiffer due to deeper chassis rails. Almost all the Mark IIs were bodied by Enrico Bertelli (the brother of 'Gus' Bertelli, Aston Martin's owner at the time) at his coachworks next door to the Aston factory in Feltham. Three standard bodies were available, including an open 2/4-seater, a full 4-seater and a fixed-head Sports Saloon, which was the most expensive model available. Between 1934 and 1936 just 166 Mark IIs were built including approximately two dozen Sports Saloons.
