The final Bugatti production car, the Type 57, combines race-bred performance with distinctive styling and driver comfort in a true high-speed touring car.
This Bugatti Type 57 was bodied by the Bugatti factory in Molsheim in the Ventoux style and finished in a single shade of grey with the interior trimmed in Havana leather. The car was delivered to the Bugatti agent in Paris where it was sold to a customer named Plasserand. The Ventoux was exported to Switzerland in the 1940s and went to Germany in 1972, where it remained until purchased by the current owner in 2016. Although restored, this very original Type 57 retains all its main, factory-marked components.
Designed by Jean Bugatti with its drivetrain derived from Bugatti's Type 59 Grand Prix cars, this Type 57 was first restored by Eberhard Grether, President of the Bugatti Club of Germany. It was restored in 2016 to 2017 for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
