1954 Ford Comète Monte Carlo Coupe

The Ford Comete Monte Carlo was originally designed by Stabilimenti Farina, and the body was built by Facel Metallon of Facel Vega fame. A total of 699 cars were assembled by Ford of France, fitted with Ford's 3.9-liter, V8 engine.

This car is believed to be the first production car of the second generation of Cometes, which featured upgraded leather interiors and wire wheels. The Comete Monte Carlo was the most expensive French production car in 1954 and the most expensive Ford in Europe, although it never wore a Ford badge. When it was new, it was one of the ten cars selected as Works of Art by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. It was discovered in 1969 on Long Island, New York, by Frank Kanter and was owned by him in unrestored condition for many years.
