1961 Bristol 407 Coupe

    1961 Bristol 407 Navigation
Between 1960 and 1961, at least six Bristol 406 saloon cars were re-bodied by Zagato as fixed-head coupes. The later Bristol 407 was the first in the long line of Chrysler V8-powered Bristols that extends to this day.

This unique 407Z by Zagato was the prototype for a planned series of Zagato-bodied cars that would have been offered by Bristol's owner, Tony Crook, who also happened to be the Zagato agent in England. The 407Z debuted alongside the Aston martin DB4 GTZ on the Zagato stand at the 1960 London Motor Show. The original plan was to shorten the strong 407 chassis for the later production cars, but this proved too expensive, and the series was canceled. Thus, this is the only Bristol 407Z Zagato ever built. Its current owner saw the car for sale in a British magazine and immediately fell in love with it - but it wasn't until 25 years later that he tracked it down and bought it.
