1953 Atlas-Allied Swallow Coupe

The Atlas-Allied car company in Los Angeles was one of a vast number of specialist car makers that sprang up in postwar America. The Allied Swallow is based on the Cisitalia 202 coupe, one of the most iconic Italian sports cars of the 1950s. The first Swallow was conceived by Bill Burke, the originator of the first Belly Tank racer, and speed equipment supplier Mickey Thompson in 1952. Allied production figures aren't exactly precise, but it's believed that 25 coupes and roadsters were sold before the company closed in 1955. For comparison, Cisitalia built 170 of their 202 coupes and roadsters over a similar period of time.

This rare coupe was actually purchased from a Road & Track advertisement in the July 1957 edition - but not until 2014! Amazingly, the car was still with that same seller, where it had languished for 57 years, stored on jack stands and still with its original tires. The car has been carefully recommissioned by its owner to preserve its unrestored patina.
