1911 Ford Model T Tourer

This 1911 Ford Model T was a Canadian-built vehicle manufactured in Walkerville, Ontario. Production information shows some 3,583 were built there that year. What is unique about the 1911 models is the body shows a strong 'buggy' influence that changed in 1912 - 1911s are quite rare and sought-after because of this design. The engines, chassis components, and bodies were supplied by the Dodge Brothers and Dort - later Gray-Dort - as well as by Fords in the United States. The engines in 1911 were mostly open-valve but later production changes were made for an enclosed system such as the one in this vehicle. This vehicle was delivered new to a gentleman in Montreal. When he was finished with the car, he put it in storage, and it sat for many years until his granddaughter traded it to a Ford dealership in the Montreal area in approximately 1973. The vehicle was then purchased and found its new home in Whitby, Ontario. The vehicle was complete but required a total restoration, one that was eventually performed over a lengthy period of time and undertaken in part by Fawcett Motor Carriage in Whitby. All the parts and materials used in the restoration of this vehicle were as close as possible to the original components used in the day, including, for example, the horse hair used as the padding under the leather seats.
