1972 Porsche 911S

Porsche extensively upgraded its 911 flagship for the 1972 model, now being produced in three versions including the T, E, and S (in ascending order of both price and performance). The engine was an enlarged 2.4-liter engine and a Type 915 five-speed transmission featuring a more conventional 'H' gate patter for the first four gears instead of the previous dog-leg arrangement.

Porsche engineers fitted a small chin spoiler, now standard on the 911 S, enhancing the car's appearance and reduced front-end lift at speed. Weight distribution and handling was improved by moving the oil tank ahead of the rear wheels, prompting an external filler cap to be installed below the passenger-side rear window. The top-of-the-line 911 S was given a Bosch mechanical fuel injection system which helped develop 190 horsepower at 6500 RPM.

This particular 911 2.4 S left the factory finished in Silver Metallic paint over a black leatherette interior. It was a U.S. specification example fitted with optional limited-slip differential, stabilizer bars, KONI shocks, tinted glass, and antenna. One of only 1,750 high-performance S coupes built for 1972, this 911 S was purchased new in Texas, where it resided with its first two owners. Early in its life, it was upgraded to 2.7-liter RS engine specification.

In 2015, it received extensive refurbishment work which included a concours-standard bare-metal repaint was done in original Silver Metallic. Mechanical work was performed on the transmission, braking, and suspension components, as needed.
