1962 Studebaker GT Hawk Navigation
The Studebaker Hawk was a line of luxury-performance personal coupes with most being equipped with automatic transmissions and a rare few being fitted with manuals. Introduced in 1953 as the Starliner, the Raymond Loewy design was unlike anything else on the road at the time. Its design was ahead of its time, but by 1962 it was time for a freshening. Introduced for 1962, the new Grand Turismo Hawk wore a design penned by designer Brooks Stevens and was built as a 2-door hardtop with seating for five occupants. Pricing in 1962 began at just under $3,100, making it the most expensive vehicle in the Studebaker lineup.
This particular example is powered by a 289 CID V8 engine, the standard V8 for the United States and Canada. Most other countries received the 259 CID V8, with the 289 being optional. This car has a four-speed transmission, original factory-authorized Studebaker air conditioning, factory-authorized full chrome wire wheels, a fabric interior, and twin traction rear end.
