1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 S
Sold for $357,000 at 2019 Gooding & Company : Pebble Beach.
The new W186 Mercedes-Benz 300 sedan was introduced at Frankfurt in 1951 and during its production lifespan they were relentlessly updated. Production continued through March of 1962. The uprated 300 S (or Super) arrived in late 1951, with three body styles including a coupe, cabriolet, and roadster rested on a shorter chassis and powered by a 150 horsepower engine. Prices began at $12,680 making the 300 S available only to the wealthiest customers. Approximately 560 examples of the 300 S were produced, including 216 Coupes.

This particular example is equipped with a floor-mounted shift lever and optional sunroof. A Portuguese gentleman acquired it in 1999 and kept it until 2011, when it came into the ownership of its current caretaker. After the purchase, it was shipped to the United States and then to RM Auto Restoration in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada. A restoration was performed during 2012 and 2013 with no possible expense spared.

The car is currently finished in silver over blue leather with silver/gray carpets. Since the restoration was completed, the car has never been shown.
