1963 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible Coupe

This Aston Martin DB5 is the fifth convertible chassis numbered, and was as a Company Works demonstrator. It left the factory finished in its current color combination of Caribbean Pearl over Dark Blue Connolly leather, and was fitted with an overdrive four-speed gearbox, a Motorola radio and power aerial, and chrome road wheels. The car was registered CMV 1A. It is believed that this convertible was displayed at the 1963 Earls Court Motor Show.

After its demonstration purposes to potential buyers and journalists came to an end, it was fully reconditioned and sold to its first private owner, Mr. G.B.R. Gray, Esq., of East Lothian. In November 1965, with 21,400 miles on its odometer, it returned to the factory for a replacement engine. During the early 1970s, it was sold on several occasions with apparently only light use from each owner. Mr. Greaves acquired it in June of 1983 and would own it for nearly 25 years. The current owner acquired it in 2007, having covered 19,246 miles in the 24 years of ownership by Mr. Greaves.

The current owner set the car to Aston Martin Works at Newport Pagnell for a full body-off restoration. In 2019 it was awarded Best of Show at the Techno Classica in Essen.
