1969 Aston Martin DB6 Coupe

The Aston Martin DB6 Mark 2 was mechanically similar to its predecessor. The Borg & Beck clutch plate was replaced with a 10.5-inch version, and the power-assisted steering was now standard. A new option of Brico fuel injection was offered and equipped to 46 cars. Subtle exterior styling changes included wider 8.15×15-inch Avon wheels and flared wheel arches. Previously optional three-ear knockoffs were fitted as standard, and the interior was redesigned to more closely resemble the DBS.

The Vantage engine remained optional and came with three Weber carburetors instead of the standard two. In the highest 'C' state of tune, the DB6 Mk 2 Vantage engine offered 325 horsepower as compared to the standard 282 horsepower. 71 examples of the Mark 2s came with the Vantage engine from new.

Production of the Mark 2 lasted less than a year, with the majority of the cars being equipped with right-hand-drive. This particular Vantage engine is a left-hand-drive Mark 2, thought to be one of just nine examples made. It was originally ordered by Archduke Joseph Árpád of Austria to his residence in Switzerland. It later made its way to Belgium, and then to the United Kingdom in the late 1990s, where it was given a comprehensive restoration and the engine was rebuilt. The exterior was finished in silver over black leather.
