When Aston Martin introduced the Vanquish S at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, it was the fastest production model ever built by the company. The 6.0-liter V12 engine had new cylinder heads featuring fully machined inlet ports and combustion chambers to improve airflow, revised engine mapping, and new fuel injectors, helping to give the car a top speed of 200 mph. It delivered 520 horsepower and 425 ft-lb of torque.
The optional Sports Dynamics package offered on the Vanquish was fitted as standard on the Vanquish S. This upgrade package included stiffer springs and dampers and shorter steering arms. Revised steering geometry provided a 20% quicker response, allowing the driver to apply more precise input and receive more accurate feedback from the chassis. To accommodate the higher performance, the Vanquish S was given upgraded brakes. Large six-piston calibers were fitted, with wider rear discs to improve heat dissipation. A new brake-pedal assembly enhanced pedal feel.
Aesthetically, the Vanquish S received a redesigned boot lid to improve balance and stability and achieve a lower coefficient of drag. In the front were a deeper-profile grille with six horizontal slats instead of the previous nine, and an added splitter improved high-speed stability. In the back was a larger windscreen which increased visibility.
This particular example has Bridge of Weir leather, in two-tone Black and Red with red accent stitching. The center console, previously painted as standard, was now covered in leather. This example has a large, fixed full-color DVD satellite navigation screen installed in the platinum-and-leather console. Although a 2+2 option was available, this example was specified in the two-seater configuration.
