1922 Buick Series 22 Roadster

Buick re-introduced a four-cylinder car for 1922, beside the six-cylinder model, which was available in ten body styles. The 242 cubic-inch overhead-valve engine was retained, as were the hoods and higher radiators. Braking continued to be employed by two-wheel mechanicals, operating on the rear wheels.

This particular example is a Buick Six 22 Style 44 three-passenger roadster, of which 7,666 were built. It is finished in olive green with black fenders, with white pinstipring around the cockpit. It has a black leatherette top, black pleated leather upholstery, and the radiator has a Buick script MotoMeter mounted in a dog-bone cap. There are twin taillights within the perimeter of the rear-mounted spare tire, and a tubular accessory bumper which has parking lights at its outer ends.

There is a correct Klaxon 12A horn and period oil can are mounted on the firewall. The car rides on Gehrig 33 × 4 blackwall tires mounted on varnished wood-spoke artillery wheels.

The car was acquired in 1995 from Bobbie Phillips of London, Kentucky. Accolades include an AACA National First award in 1965, and in 1969 it participated in the Glidden Tour.
