1902 Gasmobile Three-Cylinder Stanhope

Gasmobile of New York City, and later New Jersey, was in production from 1899 to 1902. Built by the Automobile Company of America, they were offered in single-, three-, four-, and six-cylinder forms (although the six-cylinder example remained a one-off New York show car). By the close of 1902, the company's machinery was sold to the Pan American Motor Company of Mamaroneck, New York, which failed the following year.

This 1902 Gasmobile Three-Cylinder Stanhope wears an older restoration that took over 1,400 hours and resulted in an AACA National First Prize in 1977. It was driven from London to Brighton in 1983 in that year's Commemorative Run for veteran cars. Prior owners include William Savatora of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum.

This Stanhope is finished in medium green with a yellow chassis, undercarriage, and wheels. The upholstery is original-style black leather. Power is from a rear-mounted three-cylinder, water-cooled engine which drives the wheels via single-chain drive. There are Gray & Davis brass lighting, black leather seating, and a bright green body with a yellow undercarriage.
