1959 Scimitar Concept Hardtop Convertible

This Scimitar Hard Top Convertible wearing a design by Brooks Stevens and built by Karosseriewerk Reuter of Stuttgart, Germany, had a metal roof that fully retracts into the trunk space. The car is built on a 1959 Chrysler New Yorker chassis with a 413 cubic-inch V8 engine and TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The body utilizes a removable aluminum anodized quarter panel for aesthetics and reduced maintenance.

Olin Aluminum commissioned the car to showcase the advantages of alloy bodies, and it was launched at the 1959 Geneva International Auto Show.
