1961 Porsche RS 61 Navigation
This is the first Porsche RS61 built, chassis number 718-065. It was delivered to Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, FL late in 1960 and was sent immediately to Bahamas Speed Week where it was driven by Roger Penske who raced it to victory in the five-lap Porsche/Austin Healey/Alfa Romeo Race on December 3rd, to fourth overall in the 25-lap Governor's Trophy on the same day and to fifth overall in the feature 54-lap Nassau Trophy Race on December 4th.
During his racing career, Penske competed in 44 races in Porsches winning 27 times and scoring 34 podium finishes.
This was the ultimate evolution of Porsche's four-cylinder 718 Spyder. It disappeared for nearly three decades before the current owner acquired it and had it restored.
