1910 Buick Model 17 Navigation
Jeremiah M. Hare of Delphos, Kansas acquired this 1910 Buick Model 17 Tourer new in 1910 from the dealership in nearly Concordia. Around 1921, the car was parked in the family's barn and that is where it resided, with 7,200 original miles, for the next six decades. Mr. Hare's grandsons, Wilford and Wendell Hare, advertised the Buick in Hemmings Motor News in October of 1981. It caught the attention of Clyde Sinclair of Olympia, Washington who was impressed with the Buick's original and intact condition. Following negotiations, the car was eventually acquired in April of 1982. A restoration soon followed the vehicle's purchase.
The restoration work included sympathetically cleaning and servicing the vehicle, preserving as many of its untouched features as possible. This condition was preserved after it was acquired by Les Holden in the fall of 1998.
This Buick Model 17 retains its original finishes, the pinstriping on the frame, and the original paint. The canvas top has been replaced while the interior remains original except for the seat cushions, reupholstered in matching leather. The robe rail and door handles remain in place.
While in Mr. Holden's care, the Buick's crankcase was remanufactured, a new muffler and fender braces made in 1998, and the water pump rebuilt by Bill Hirsch in 1999. New pistons were installed in 2003 and the carburetor was rebuilt by Eugene Tesch in 2019. Accessories include Corcoran brass head, cowl, and tail lamps, as well as a wicker basket trunk, bulb horn, and an eight-day clock.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2021

The Buick Motor Company was founded by David Buick in 1903. In 1908 Buick became a founding member of General Motors Corporation.
The 1910 Buick Model 17 Touring featured a 318 cubic inch four-cylinder engine that developed 32 horsepower and was coupled to a 3-speed sliding transmission. It originally retailed for $1,750 excluding the windshield and speedometer.
It was originally purchased by Kansas wheat farmer Jeremiah Hare from his local Buick Dealership in Concordia, Kansas. Hare drove the car until 1921when he retired from driving due to his advanced age. The car had been driven 7,200 miles. He parked the car in his barn where it remained for the next 62 years. In 1983 a Buick Dealer from Olympia, Washington purchased the car from Hare's grandson with the odometer still registering 7,200 miles. The current owner acquired the car in 1998. It is quite possibly the best unrestored 1910 Buick in existence.
