1988 Porsche 944 Turbo Navigation
This Porsche 944 Turbo Cup was acquired by Agincourt Autohaus Leasing, delivered to Cooke Motors of Canada, and raced by Rick Bye for the entirety of the three-year RTC series. Bye secured a sponsorship deal with Reebok and had it finished in a livery that was truly eye-catching and unique.
Bye took mostly podium finishes and a win in 1989 before passing the car to Ian Goggin in 1990. Goggin entered the car in Firestone's Firehawk series before retiring his career and the race car. It was later acquired by a U.S. resident where it received a light and cautious restoration, bringing it back to as it appeared when Bye raced it in the Cup series. It has seen been used for car shows and driven on a private track.
Currently, the car has 9,000 kms which is believed to be an original and correct number. It has been in private ownership for the past 26 years.By Daniel Vaughan | May 2020
