1908 Stanley Model EX Navigation
This 1908 Stanley Steamer 10hp EX Runabout is powered by a single-cylinder steam engine delivering ten horsepower. There is a solid front axle, live rear axle, full-elliptical leaf springs, and two-wheel mechanical brakes. The EX Model, with approximately 450 pounds of steam, could reach a top speed of 60 mph.
This EX Model Runabout was discovered in the 1960s in a barn in Massachusetts. In 2004 it was acquired by Gary Hoonsbeen of Massachusetts and used on several tours. Although it had undergone a previous restoration, Mr. Hoonsbeen felt that much of the work was poorly or done incorrectly. He set about to return this Stanley to its original specifications spending over 6-years on a meticulous restoration.
